Michael G. "Duster" Ross, 70, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015. Graveside services will be Tuesday, December 22, in China Spring Cemetery, China Spring, Texas.

Michael Gregory was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Robert A. and Lavera Ruth (Amstutz) Ross. He graduated from Fenton High School, Bensenville, Ill. On September 24, 1966, he married Janice Hewitt in Bad Axe, Michigan. They moved to Texas and Michael drove a dump truck for Young Brothers in Waco, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the China Spring First Baptist Church where he ran the church sound system.

Following his retirement, he moved back to Indiana before moving to the warmer climate of Lubbock in 2014. Michael was a member of the Downtown Bible Class. He served as a volunteer fireman in Indiana and Texas and was a member of the Texas and Indiana Patriot Guard Riders. He was an avid HAM radio operator, and for time away he enjoyed riding his Burgman 400 motorcycle across the country.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice K. Ross; and a daughter, Tonya Pitts.

Survivors include his daughter, Tia Porter and husband, Lee, of Lubbock; grandchildren: Staehli Ross, Dane Hernandez, Josh Porter, Jessica and Nick Hottmann, and Nichole Porter; great-grandsons, Tildon Hottman and Canyon Hottman; brothers, Steve Ross and wife, Jean, of Port Charlotte, Florida, Mark Ross and wife, Marty, of Springhill, Tennessee, and Ron Ross and wife, Peggy, of Mahomet, Illinois; other relatives and many friends.
