Alice A. Sura, 89, of Wytheville, Va., formerly of Conowingo, Md., passed away Monday, December 14, 2015. Born in Jerseyside Placentia, Newfoundland, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Thomas P. and Sarah Anne Miller Mulrooney. Mrs. Sura was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pylesville, Md. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sura was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Sura in 1999; a son, John M. Sura; and siblings, Edward and Acquinas Mulrooney, Marie Haddock, Nell Hickerson and Margaret Price. Survivors include her children, George Sura of Bel Air, Md., Sarah Godack of Essex, Md., Donald Sura of Rice, Va., Nicholas Sura of Delta, Pa., Stella Smith of Essex, Md., Margaret Baxley and Angela Coe, both of Wytheville, Va.; siblings, Rose Smith of Sacramento, Calif., Catherine Anderson of Kings City, Calif., and Desmond Mulrooney of St. John's, Newfoundland; 23 grandchildren and 26 great- grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1021 St. Mary's Road, Pylesville, MD 21132, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. hickshomeforfunerals.com
