Dorothy Click Slover Callicutt, 100, of Memphis, TN, and Signal Mountain, TN(since 2009), died Wednesday, December 16, 2015.

She had believed in Jesus as her Savior in her youth, and she had a long life as one of His servants.

She was born June 10, 1915, in Tipton County, TN, to Emily Virginia and David Crockett Click. Being the only girl and the youngest child in a household of boys, she quickly became the darling of the home and the apple of her father's eye.

When Dot was 13, her father hired a friend to teach her how to drive a car. When she finished her lessons, her father bought a new car (Model A Ford), and appointed her as the family chauffeur, driving the family to visit relatives in Mississippi and Arkansas.

She was a 1933 graduate of Brighton H.S., where she played side center on the girls' basketball team even though she was not quite 5 feet tall.

As a long-time member of Highland Heights Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School there for many years. She later became a member of Bellevue Baptist.

Dorothy made the world's best coleslaw. She said there was not a secret ingredient in the slaw, but no one in the family can duplicate the taste. We believe the secret ingredient was love.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, J.D. Click of Memphis; Alfred Click and Winfred Click of Brighton, TN. Also preceding her were husbands Clinton F. Slover and William (Bill) Callicutt.

Her survivors include two daughters, Laverne (Harold) Yancey of Eads, TN, and Norma (Ed) Dunivant of Louisville, KY; one son, Charles Clinton (Diane) Slover of Signal Mountain, TN; eight grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10:0 0 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN, with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. The Reverend Barney Hudson of Fort Worth, TX, a dear, long-time family friend, will officiate.

Many thanks to the staff of Alexian Village Assisted Living of Signal Mountain, TN, for six years of compassionate, competent care. You are the best!

Thanks also to Alexian Health Care, and Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving end-of-life care for mom.
