Miami, FL - Curtis J. Mitchell was born March 21, 1958 in Albany, NY to parents Vida B. Mitchell and the late Cabey Galloway, Jr. Curtis a native of Beacon, NY, passed on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at home in Miami, Florida. Curtis received his education at South Avenue School in Beacon, NY and Millbrook High in Millbrook, NY. Prior to relocating to Fort Worth, TX, Curtis was an employee of the following establishments: Montgomery Wards, Nissan, and Landscaping Service in Poughkeepsie, NY and Freedom Ford, Beaton, NY. As a residence in Fort Worth, TX, he was employed at Poor Folks. Curtis then relocated to Los Angeles, CA. Upon graduating from Trucking School, he became a truck driver for North American Van Lines and West Way Trucking expanding his travels from Coast to Coast.
Curtis is predeceased in death by his Grandparents: Walter Sr. and Estelle Mitchell and Cabey, Sr., and Golden Galloway; One brother, Brian Galloway. Curtis is survived by his mother, Vida B. Mitchell, Beacon, NY; his son, Curtis Mitchell, Jr., Braditon, FL, his brothers, Cabey Galloway, III, Beacon, NY Benjamin and Julia Galloway, Richmond, VA. His girlfriend, Jeanett Barrett, Miami, FL and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 at 1:00pm, Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Fishkill, NY, Rev. Dr. Ronald O. Perry, Sr. will officiate. Please no flowers.
