DEATH OF DEFIANCE PIONEER
Michael Weimer Dead at the Age of 83 Years--Came to Iowa in 61.

DEFIANCE, Ia., Aug. 31.--Michael Weimer was born in Summerset[sic] county, Pa., March 18, 1828. He was united in carriage to Anna McMillan June 2, 1853, and to this union six children were born, namely, Mrs. C. M. Hannon of Defiance; Mrs. Farrell and Bechtol of Portland, Ore.; William of Colorado; John of Harlan; and Samuel, who died some years ago.
In 1861 they moved to Cedar county, Ia., where they lived fifteen years, and from there came to Shelby county in 1876. Since the death of his wife, May 22, 1884, he has lived with his eldest daughter, Mrs. C. M. Hannon, where he died August 21, after several weeks' illness.
The funeral was held at the house yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. McGilvray, assisted by Rev. Brecher. All of the children but William were present.
