Leon Mitchell Manning, 64, of Manor died Friday (Dec. 19, 2015) at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Pierce County to the late D.C. and Rosalie Rowell Manning. Mr. Manning graduated from Patterson High School in 1969 and lived in Manor most of his life and worked at CSX Railroad as a Machinist for thirty three years. He enjoyed going to church at New Prospect United Methodist Church. His greatest pleasure in life was his family, he loved his grandkids with all his heart.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Polly Ledford, Glenda Jones, and Arlene Manning; one brother, Anthony Manning.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Nancy Herrin Manning of Manor; three children, Renee Smoak and her husband Carey of Waycross, Randy Manning and his wife Karina of Orlando, Herrin Manning of Manor; four grandchildren, Brandon Smoak and his wife Katelyn of Texas, Camilla Manning and Thomas Manning both of Orlando, Hayden Manning of Manor; one brother, Joey Manning and his wife Mary of Patterson, GA; numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Loved by all.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 pm at the New Prospect United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1 pm Tuesday at the church.
