This info on CPL.John French is a compilation between the info found in "A Brief History of the French Family, by Mary Queal Beyer, printed in the Annals of Iowa, State Historical Society of Iowa, Vol.9, 1910, p. 495. and The Genealogical Register,page 56, attached to the History of Billerica.

CPl. John French was wounded in a skirmish with the Indians in the assault at Quaboag in 1675, and was unable to steadily work. He was often in the employ of the town. He married (1). Abigail Coggan, June 21, 1659, daughter of Henry Coggan of Barnstable, She died Apr 5, 1662; (2). Hannah Burrage, July 3, 1663, daughter of John Burrage of Charlestown, She died July 7, 1667; (3). Mary Rogers, 1667, daughter of John, she died Jan 16,1677; and (4.) Mary Littlefield, Jan 16,1678, probably the daughter of Francis Littlefield of Woburn, and also, the widow of John Kitteredge. She died 1719 He is listed in the vital records of Billerica as having died in Billerica. Being poor, his grave may have never had a gravestone on it.

He was the father of nine children. Hannah, the oldest, born in Billerica, Jan 20 1644, married John Kittredge on Aug 3, 1685. They had five children. They were the progenitors of a long line of medical men.

Married first, June 21, 1650, Abigail Coggan, daughter of Henry of Barnstable; she died April 5, 1662, and he married second, July 3, 1663, Hannah Burrage, daughter of John of Charlestown ; she died July 7, 1667, and he married third, January 14, 1668, Mary Rogers, daughter of John ; she died Jtine 16, 1677, and he married fourth. Jan. 16, 1677-8, Mary, probably daughter of Francis Littlefield of Woburn, and widow of John Kittredge of Billerica; she died in 1719. He died October, 1712. He was a corporal in the militia; wounded by the Indians in assault at Quaboag in 1675. He was often in the town's service. He was the father of nine children; the oldest, Hannah, born in Billerica, Jan. 20, 1644, married Aug. 3, 1685, to John
Kittredge, and had five ehildren, being the progenitor of a long line of medical men through her sons John and Jacob. Simeon, the grandson of John, was the father of eight sons, all physicians.
