Allen Guy Turner, 96 passed away on Friday December 18, 2015 after a few months’ of illness.

He was born in Heflin, AL on March 29th, 1919 to Marcus Ward Turner and Minnie Morris Turner. He was the 5th of 11 children.

After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific, he married Dorothy Evelyn Elkins of Heflin. On January 19, 1944 they began their 71 years of marriage. They raised their family in Heflin, AL and he was active in the Baptist Church as a deacon, and Sunday School Director. He served as Boy Scout Master of Troop 201 at Hollis Crossroads for several years, and was employed at Fort McClellan until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters and a son-in-law; four sons and three daughters-in-law; a sister; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Heflin Baptist Church, Heflin, AL at 1 pm and funeral will be at 2 pm on Sunday December 20.

Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
