Regina Christine (May) Stewart, 93, passed into heaven on December 12, 2015. Mom was born to Nicholas and Anna May of Nicolaus, CA, on August 6, 1922. After graduating from East Nicolaus High School, she moved to Sacramento with two of her sisters and attended Heald Business School. She was employed by PacBell (AT&T) and retired after 27 years.

Mom loved to dance and met our dad at a community dance in Sutter City, CA. Every Saturday night they would travel with friends to Sutter City and dance the night away. Clifford Stewart and Regina May were married at the original St. Bonafice Catholic Church in Nicolaus on September 20, 1942. They began their married life together in Sacramento where they lived and worked approximately 30 years. They eventually returned to Nicolaus to live on Mom's original homestead where they grew kiwis and walnuts. They were married 61 years and were active with the Franklin Dance Club and devoted members of St. Bonafice Church.

Mom was a very kind, loving, compassionate and generous person who always made one feel welcomed and part of the family. Her energy was unmatched. As a true country girl, Mom grew up helping her brother milk the cows. She enjoyed gardening and continued into her 90s hoeing and pulling weeds. She was well known for her Sunday dinners.

She was preceded in death by our father, Clifford G. Stewart; her brother, John May; sisters and spouses, Magdalena Williams (Ray), Marie Anderson (Norman), Delores Vincent (Frank) and her parents, Nick and Anna May.

Survivors include her four children: Kathy Alcorn of Sacramento, CA; Marilyn Kunz (Regis), Reggie Harlan and James Stewart (Kathi), all of Nicolaus, CA; and 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Sunday, December 20, 2015, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the Rosary at 7:00 pm at Chapel of the Twin Cities. A mass of Christian Burial will be recited on Monday, December 21, 2015, at 12:00 pm at St. Bonafice Catholic Church located at 1028 Marcum Road, Nicolaus, CA 95659. A graveside service will follow at Nicolaus Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Bonafice Altar Society in c/o Vreni Scheiber, 3104 Garden Hwy., Nicolaus, CA 95659.
