Lavonne Virginia Martin, 95, formerly of Ellensburg, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 in Eugene, Oregon.
Lavonne was born in Yakima on May 21, 1920 to John and Minnie (Messinger) Lenz. She married James Martin in Ellensburg on November 23, 1942.
Lavonne had worked for the Ellensburg Telephone Company, Washington State Employment Service and was a co-owner of the Furniture Center in Othello for 40 years. She enjoyed being a member of the Othello Garden Club. She and Jim were founding members of the Othello Town and Country Dance Club. Lavonne was a wonderful wife and mother who always put everyone ahead of herself.
Jim and Lavonne moved to Leavenworth, WA, in 1990 and enjoyed their retirement years there very much. They moved to the beautiful Oregon coast in 2001.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter Glenna Martin of Florence, Oregon and her son Jim (Debby) Martin of Eugene; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents and her sisters; June and Alice.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 17 at 11:00am at I.0.0.F cemetery in Ellensburg, WA.
