Hartford City physician Guy A. Owsley, 79, died Sunday in St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn., after an extended illness.
An eye, ear, nose and throat specialist, Dr. Owsley was a graduate of Indiana University Medical School and a member and past president of the Indiana State Medical Association.
Dr. Owsley was past president of Opthamology and Otorhinolarnygology, a member for four years of the Council on Medical Service, organizer and director for two years of the Indiana Political Action Committee, and chairman for two years of the Indiana Hospital Licensing Council.
He served for six years as a delegate to the American Medical Association and was chairman of the Council on Medical Service of the 119th annual meeting of the AMA 13 years ago.
He was a three-year member of the board of directors of NABSP, a member of the joint committee of the AMA, AHA, Blue Cross and Blue Shield and had served as chairman of the committee on governmental medical services.
Survivors include a stepson, John B. Williams, Indianapolis.
His wife, Freeda, died in December.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Waters Funeral Home, Hartford City. Entombment will be in Elm Ridge Mausoleum here. Calling hours at the funeral home are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and before services Wednesday.
