PELL CITY - Mrs. Annie Maude Gay Crowder, 92, of Pell City, Ala., died Monday, May 27, 2013, after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at Kilgroe Funeral Home Chapel in Pell City on Thursday, May 30 at 11 a.m. CDT with Brother Gary Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Shawmut City Cemetery in Valley at 3 p.m. EDT.

Mrs. Crowder is survived by three daughters, Iris (Richard) Welch of Birmingham, Ala., Brenda (Raymond) Sweatt of Pell City and Martha Jones of Montgomery, Ala.; a daughter-in-law, Penny Crowder of Valley; and six grandchildren, Kim Tomlin, Leigh Ann Erwin, Michelle Bryan, Lisa Oglesby, Jason Sweatt and Jennifer Jones; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Born Oct. 13, 1920, in Randolph County, Mrs. Crowder was daughter of the late William Cleveland Gay and Sarah Maude Benefield Gay. She lived in Opelika most of her life and retired from WestPoint Pepperell before moving to Pell City in 1997 to be near family. Mrs. Crowder was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Chula Vista, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Lee Jackson Crowder, and two step-sons, Larry Crowder and Rayburn Crowder.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Meadowview Nursing Center in Cook Springs and Hospice Advantage for their dedicated support, compassion and love during her illness.
