Mr. Atkinson was formerly employed by the New Bedford Housing Authority for 24 years, until his retirement last year. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being in the company of his Boston Terrier, Tuesday. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing and helping others as a handyman.
Survivors include his partner Norma, a brother Russell B. Spaziano, a sister Seretha E. Marlowe, a step-sister Etta B. Fuller, a nephew Nelson W. Marlowe, Jr., 2 nieces, Melissa L. Marlowe and Tekeyla E. Atkinson; and his Godchild, Nichole E. Gonsalves.
His visiting hours will he held on Monday from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM in the funeral home. His family will receive guests on Tuesday morning from 10:30-11 AM prior to his service. Burial will follow in Nasketucket Cemetery, Fairhaven.
