Emma Ree Miller, 95, a resident of Russellville, formerly of Chimes, died Monday, December 21, 2015, at Legacy Heights Nursing Home in Russellville.

She was born March 1, 1920, in Davidson, Oklahoma to the Rev. Henry A. and Laura Ann Hardester Hefner. She married Otis Miller and the couple moved to Chimes where Emma taught school and Otis farmed. When the couple moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma a few years later, Emma worked as a bookkeeper until she and Otis retired at which time they returned to Chimes. While living in Chimes, she and Otis served as foster parents to several teenagers and later became foster grandparents to Tiffany, the daughter of their foster son. Emma was involved in many community activities and was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church at Chimes until she entered the nursing home in Russellville in 2002. Emma invested her life in the Lord’s work and in caring for others, especially her large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter; three brothers, Owen, Riley and Homer Hefner; and three sisters, Pauline Eubanks, Nadine Fishel and Geneva Allison.

Survivors include a sister, Vera Westfall of Houston, Texas; many nephews, nieces; the foster children she and Otis had the privilege of loving, including a foster granddaughter, Tiffany; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Humphrey Chapel with the Rev. Keith Shipley officiating. Burial will be private in Liberty Cemetery at Chimes under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
