Rod graduated from Central Tech High School. He worked numerous jobs until he found his passion as owner of R&M Sporting Goods. His love for hunting and fishing showed as he helped customers find just what they needed to pursue their love of the outdoors. He loved working on cars and motorcycles, and also loved to grill.
In addition to his parents he was preceded death by his wife of 36 years, Elaine Brennen Manning and his brother, Eric Manning.
He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Manning, and by his three sisters, Brenda Stelmack, Ginger Wurst and her husband, Earl, and Bridget Angelotti and her husband, Dennis. Additional survivors also include his mother-in-law Erma Brennen and numerous nephews and nieces.
Burial in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
