CHESAPEAKE - Katherine Davenport Ashley, 78, our beloved mother is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She passed peacefully in her home at Cedar Manor on May 30, 2003, after enduring a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elmer Clifton Ashley. Today, they are reunited in heaven.
A graveside service will be conducted at Macedonia Baptist Church Monday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Wallace Phillips of the Carpenter Shop in Ahoskie, will officiate. The family will receive friends at Evans Funerals and Cremations of Edenton today from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Mrs. Ashley was a native of Chowan County. She was the daughter of the late Bruce and Addie Davenport of Edenton. Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Ann Stokeley and husband, Ike M. Jr. of Elizabeth City, Constance A. Hall and husband, H.D. (Sonny) of Gates County, Mona Lisa Adams and husband, Lorne E. of Panama City Beach, Fla. and Candance A. Thomas and husband, Tom of Chesapeake; a sister, Frances Dolerhie of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mom, we love you and will miss you, but we will see you soon.
