Nels "Ursel" Anderson, 78, of 1358 Swan, was dead on arrival at the St. Benedict's hospital Friday following a heart attack.
He was born Feb. 21, 1896 in Bear River, a son of Nels and Lena Petersen Anderson.
He married to Sylvia Anderson on May 7, 1919 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad while living in Los Angeles, Calif., and worked for the Defense Deport, Ogden from 1946 to retirement in 1962. He served in the army and was a veteran of World War I.
He had served as bishop of the Maywood Ward, In Maywood; Calif., for six years. He served an LDS mission In the Southern States. He was a High Priest in the Ogden LDS 30th Ward. He was a High Priest group leader.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the Veterans of World War I Barracks 1011.
He is survived by his widow of Ogden; five brothers, one sister and two step-brothers: Calvin Anderson, Kenneth Anderson, both of Garland; Rosco Anderson, Virgil Anderson, both of Bothwell; Roland Anderson of Salt Lake City; Mrs. David R. (Shirley) Jones of Ogden; Lloyd Hust of Brigham City; and Wayne Anderson of Tremonton.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. in the Ogden 30th Ward Chapel with Bishop William R.
