Obituary for Preston Hall

Preston Louis Hall was born in Bailey, Texas on December 30, 1933. He was one of four children born from the union of the late Robert and Ruby (Swinney) Hall. Preston attended school in Lubbock, TX before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served honorably during the Korean War as a Telecommunications Operator aboard the U.S.S. Iowa Battleship.

While stationed in Virginia he would meet the love of his life the former, Audrey Speaks. The couple married on May 8, 1954 in Hartford, North Carolina. They moved to Michigan in 1966 to raise their four children. Preston was a member of the Teamsters Local 20, and worked nearly thirty years as a Truck Driver employed by Freightway in Toledo retiring in 1996.

Preston was a devout Christian and valued regular church attendance. He had served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was a longtime member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church.

Preston was easy going, affectionate, and sensitive. A member of the Disabled American Veterans he enjoyed participating in the Veteran’s parades. He had also coached little league, loved nurturing his vegetable garden, and was also an avid sports fan always watching the Tigers and football. As a young man he liked to fish.
