Rodney Alan Larsen, age 61, of Elk Mound, WI, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at his home.

He was born May 14, 1954, in Eau Claire, WI, to Robert O. and Lorraine D. (Olson) Larsen. Rodney was raised in the Menomonie area and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1972. He was in the U.S. Army for two years, after enlisting in May of 1972, proudly serving during the Vietnam era.

While serving in the military, Rod married Kathy Gilbert. To this union three children were born, Nathan, Amy and Elly.

For 41 years, Rod was a very dedicated employee of Menomonie Disposal.

On July 7, 2007, he married Cindy (Hillman) Lutz in Irvington. They have resided in Elk Mound.

He loved putting puzzles together and doing crossword puzzles, art and calligraphy. He was a man of the outdoors and loved hunting and fishing.

Rod is survived by his wife, Cindy; his children, Nathan (Katie) Larsen, Amy (Adam) Wamboldt, and Elly Larsen; step-children, Jenna (Adam) Greendeer, Trisha (Devon) Kaiser; grandchildren, Mikayla Larsen, Ashton and Aiden Wamboldt, Sheriden and Abbilynn Anderson, and Parker Greendeer; his siblings, Beverly (Daniel) Buss, Joan (DeWayne) Behling and John (Margie) Larsen; Sophie the dog; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Steven.

A Time of Remembrance will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Pastor Roy Clickner officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard. There will be visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Little Elk Creek Cemetery.
