Algie Opal Brown, age 71, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away of cancer, August 9 at her home. Funeral services were held August 13 and she was laid to rest in the Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.


She is survived by five sons, Donald, Wendell, Billy, Charles and Roger; and a daughter, Sandra Watson. Also surviving is her mother, Mary Franklin; and an aunt, Plina Franklin; five sisters, Ona Asberry, Jean Page, Mildred Blum, Betty Zimmerman and Ruth Miller; and one brother, Glenn Franklin.


She was preceded in death by her husband, John Brown, in December, 1982; her father, Sidney Franklin, in September 1975; her mother, Flossie Watson Franklin, in October 1924; a brother, Ovie, in December 1971; and a brother, Mintford, in September 1988.


She was a member of The Abiding Faith Lighthouse in Indianapolis and was a homemaker. She was educated in the Monticello schools. She was born October 6, 1919 in Russell County to Flossie Watson Franklin and Sidney Franklin, she was married to John Brown in 1935 in Kentucky and later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where she lived the remainder of her life.


She will be missed by all who knew her.
