Hubert Vander Werff, 69, Rte. 3, Pella, died last Wednesday at the Pella Community Hospital.

He was born May 22, 1904 near Harvey, the son of J.J. and Elizabeth Dennis Vander Werff. He lived with his parents south of Pella where he attended the North Porterville School.

He married Jana Van Weelden on March 19, 1927 at Pella and they had one son.

The Vander Werffs provided a home for Mrs. Vander Werffs nephew, John Van Gorp, who lived with them for almost 16 years.

He became a mechanic at the age of 16 and after their marriage, they moved to Baxter where he worked for 37 years.

In December, 1954, they moved back to Pella while he continued to do mechanical work at Melvin, Pothovens and Gary Vogelaar's garages. He retired in 1965.

He continued to live on his parents home place until the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Jana; his son, Marvin and his wife Betty and two granddaughters, all from Pella.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his only brother John.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Van Dyk-Duven Chapel in Pella with Rev. Ronald Cowles, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Pella, officiating.

Interment was in the Porter Grove Cemetery in Pella and arrangements were made by the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home.
