Services for Mr. Walker were 11 AM Thursday, April 15, 2004 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Bro. Mike Smith officiating. Interment with military honors was in Wilson County Memorial Park. Mr. Walker, 78, of Mt. Juliet, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at the VA Hospital in Nashville. The Corinth Church of Christ member was born to the late Livie Clark and Annie Lou Owen Walker. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He was a gunners mate on the USS Birmingham and fougt in 16 major battles in the South Pacific. He was an avid NASCAR fan and was a stock car driver in the late 1940s and early 1950s. He was also a member of the Old Times Stock Car Association.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Alene Walker Gaither. Survivors include: his wife, six children, step-mother, two sisters, brother, 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be sons and sons-in-law.
