Martin Pancho Landers
April 21, 1933 - December 5, 2015

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away due to complications related to malignant melanoma on December 5th, 2015. He was 82 years old. Martin was born on April 21st, 1933 in West Hollywood, California to Martin O. Landers and Lucille Wheeler Landers. He was the oldest of four children. He grew up in Redondo Beach, California and attended Redondo Union High School. He was an accomplished wrestler and was California High School State Champion his senior year. He went on to wrestle at Brigham Young University (BYU). He served a full-time mission for the LDS Church in the Mexico City, Mexico Mission. After returning home he attended BYU and was drafted into the Army and stationed in Germany. Upon returning to BYU, he met his future wife, Marva Anne Bird Beesley and her 4 year old son, Michael. After graduating from BYU, Martin and Marva were married on May 28th, 1966. They then moved to Apple Valley, California, and together raised five children. Martin worked for 35+ years as an elementary school teacher in the Victorville and Adelanto School Districts. After work and in the summers, Martin did extra work to make ends meet. He worked in the mining industry, sold silver, and did drywall and taping. Martin loved his family dearly. He would sacrifice everything for his family and, subsequently, never acquired many material possessions. His favorite activities included spending time with family and friends and watching BYU sports. However, Martin's main hobby was rendering Christ-like service to others. He was the first to volunteer to help. He loved genealogy and was recently the Director of the LDS Family History Center. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from him, most notably having a good attitude, giving selfless service, working hard, and exhibiting genuine kindness to others. Martin had the gift of gab and loved to talk to anyone who would listen. Even though he was into health foods and supplements, he had a weakness for ice cream and Neccos. Martin is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Martin "Eric" Landers. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marva, and four children: Mike Beesley (Anita), Merrill Landers (Teresa), Melanie Hatch, and Michelle Landers. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson born the day before his passing, brother Dan Landers (Doreen), and sisters Lilah Myers (Gar) and Ardith Freebairn (Mike). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 19th at 10:00am at the LDS Church on Navajo Road in Apple Valley, California. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, 400 East, 1997 South, Springville, Utah, where he will be buried next to his son Eric.
