Marvin Loren Yates, 82, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at Union Hospital, in Terre Haute. He was born Nov. 12, 1933, in Terre Haute, to the late Dorris and Frances (Smith) Yates. Marvin graduated from Honey Creek High School in the class of 1951, and married Beverly Huffman on Aug. 7, 1955.
He was a member of the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department, and retired from Chinook Coal Mine in 1996. Marvin enjoyed playing golf, attending races with his son and playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his son, Emery Dean Yates; and two sisters, Ardella Jeffers and Reta Hoopingardner.
