Mr. James Thomas, know [sic] to his friends as “Big Jim Thomas” dropped dead on the streets of Scottsville, Saturday. Mr. Thomas and his only son, Mr. Frank Thomas, left the Dry Fork section a few years ago to live in Bay City, Fla., for the benefit of their health. Last week Mr. Thomas Sr., came up to Nashville, to to [sic] have some catteracts [sic] taken from his eyes, but upon reaching there the doctors told him the eyes would not be ready to operate on before May, so he decided to make a visit to his former home at Dry Fork, and upon reaching Scottsville, dropped dead as stated. The remains were interred in the family burying ground near Dry Fork Monday, after the arrival of his son from Flarida [sic].
