Laura E. Burton, of Orchard Manor, Grove City, passed away with her family at her side on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015. She was 84.
Ms. Burton was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Rosedale, Pa., a daughter of Edward Wethli and Martha Sorbie.
She graduated from Penn High School in Pittsburgh and attended Robert Morris Business School.
She was a member of Barkeyville United Methodist Church, a tax collector for Irwin Township from 1986 until 2009, and a greeter for six years at Wal-Mart in Pine Township. Right out of college she worked for Westinghouse as a secretary and assistant.
She enjoyed visiting with her family, friends and neighbors and loved to weed her flower beds.
She is survived by a daughter, Vicky Suhrie and her husband Patrick; Mercer; three sons, Leon “Lee” Burton and her wife Cindy, Harrisville; Timothy Burton and her wife Kathi, Mercer; and Ronald Burton and his wife Michele, Burgettstown, Pa.; a sister, Martha Hopbell and her husband Jim, Kittanning, Pa.; and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Burton, who passed away on Sept. 30, 1984; a brother, Homer Wethli in 2005; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Wethli in 2014.
The family suggest memorial donations be sent to Barkeyville United Methodist Church in care of Carol McCullon, 622 Old Route 8, Harrisville, PA 16038.
