Bruce Wayne Blair, 59, of Martinsville, formerly of New Albany, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born July 14, 1956, in New Albany, to Jesse Robert and Barbara Marilyn Archikavitz Blair. He spent his early life and graduated from school in New Albany. He later attended Indiana University Southeast. He served in the Navy from July 7, 1973 to July 15, 1979, rising to the rank electronics warfare technician petty officer third class. He received the Good Conduct Medal and other service awards. He owned and operated 3 Boy's Expediting for 15 years in Martinsville. Bruce formerly held various club memberships with different motorcycle groups. He was a fan of classic cars and Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He also enjoyed boating, technology, computers and being with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Martha "Marty" Mae Roberts Blair, whom he married June 6, 1981; three sons, Dustin L. Blair of Zionsville, Jesse R. Blair of Martinsville and Ryan M. Blair of Mooresville; one brother, Robert Blair of Hawaii; seven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Janet Wagner and Kelly Blair.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. A final salute will follow the service at 12:30 p.m.
Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Naval Ceremonial Unit and Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion in the cemetery chapel.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warrior Project. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.
