Frances Swagel, age 94 of Kewaunee died on Monday, December 14, 2015. She was born in Luxemburg on October 21, 1921 to the late Peter and Catherine (Seidl) Seidl .She married John A. Swagel on November 25, 1950 at St. John's Church in Krok and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1992.Frances and John farmed in the Town of Montpelier all of their lives until retiring. She was a lifelong member of St. John Church in Krok, now St. Therese Parish and a member of the Altar-Rosary Society. After retiring she loved to read religious and uplifting stories and as a hobby loved to collect angels.Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Carol and John Mertens, Kewaunee; one son and daughter-in-law: Tom and Mary Swagel, Kewaunee; seven grandchildren: Amy (John) Kitzinger; Angela (Rich) Cox; Ann Mertens (Ryan Klessig); Alex (Lindsey) Mertens; Margaret Swagel; Mitchell Swagel; Kristin (Juan) Romero; eight great grandchildren: Olivia Kitzinger; Ross and Kendall Cox; Hannah Klessig; Noah and Madison Mertens; Evan and Isabella Romero; one brother: Mike Seidl, Kewaunee; two sisters-in-law: Lucy Seidl; Marlene Seidl both of Kewaunee. She was preceded in death by one son: John R. Swagel; two sisters: Marie (Lawrence) Kinjerski; Dorothy (Robert) Jerovetz; three brothers: Peter Seidl; John (Lillian) Seidl; Donald Seidl; one brother-in-law: Tony (Barbara) Swagel; two sisters-in-law: Clara Swagel and Libbie (Joe) Kleiman.Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. A parish wake service will be held at 6:00 p.m. by Dcn. Robert and Crystal Wavrunek. Visitation continues on Thursday at St. Joseph/St. John Church, Pilsen after 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Dennis Drury at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Krok.
