As a young man of nineteen he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in November 1942, and worked as a mechanic on WW II aircraft. He was honorably discharged in January 1946, and changed his last name to Wade because it was easier for people to spell and pronounce. He enrolled in the University of Redlands, becoming the only sibling from his family to receive a Bachelor of Science. While he was in college he developed an interest in helping at-risk youth and Criminology.
In the early 1950's he worked as a teacher in San Bernardino County until obtaining a job as a San Bernardino County Probation Officer. This began a lifelong interest in working in the field of Corrections, and by the 1960s he was working throughout that State of California as a California Correctional Counselor. At the time of his retirement in the 1980s he had been appointed by the Governor of California as a Deputy Parole Commissioner to the California Board of Parole Hearings and had over 30 years of valued experience in the field.
Warren traveled extensively after retirement with his second wife, Adele Patterson, and enjoyed lawn bowling, gardening, bird watching, Clipper basketball games, drives in the country, and spending time with family.
Adele preceded him in death in March 2012, and he moved to Santa Maria. Warren is survived by his children and step children. He had eight grandchildren and five great grand-children.
Graveside Services will be 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2015 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
