Mr. Ben T. Hamilton Sr., aged 83, of Forrest City, died Friday, Nov 2, 2001, at his home.Mr. Hamilton was born Nov. 25, 1917, in Colt, and was the son of Thurston Hamilton and Effie Peevey Hamilton. He lived in Forrest City most of his life and had been a parts manager for Eldridge Chevrolet and Olds for 25 years and was a regional corporate distributor for Gulf Oil. In 1970, Mr. Hamilton became owner of Hamilton Oil Company. Mr. Hamilton was also a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the National Wildlife Association.He is survived by his wife, Lillian Dooley Hamilton of Forrest City; a son, Ben T. Hamilton Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, LaNan Hamilton Goodwin of Memphis; two sisters, Mary Jo Hamilton of San Diego, Calif. and Jackie Hamilton Phillips of Del Mar, Calif.; and three grandchildren.Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by one son, Donald Edward Hamilton.Graveside funeral services for Mr. Hamilton were held on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
