Jane Reynolds died Dec. 10, 2015, at the Warrensburg Manor Care Center at the age of 96.

Jane was born in Simpson Township, Johnson County, on April 6, 1919, to Charles Douglas and Bernice Ozell (Sivils) Fryrear.

She attended Pershing Elementary School in Warrensburg and Mason School in Simpson Township. She also attended Training High School on the campus of Central Missouri State Teachers College now the University of Central Missouri.

Jane married Franklin Woodrow Reynolds, also of Simpson Township, on Sept. 4, 1935, in Kansas City, Kan. Jane worked throughout her married life, first as a helpmate to whatever endeavor in which Frank was involved, whether it was driving a school bus or working in the field on the farm. Later she worked at the License Bureau at Jerry Tally Motors and then as a bookkeeper, office manager, and warehouse manager for J.M. Werling and Sons. She also was bookkeeper for other Werling Enterprises.

Jane and Frank were founding members of Warrensburg Saddle & Bridle Club. In later years, they joined the MOSHOME chapter of the Good Sam Camping Club. In these organizations, as well as others, they were in the forefront of any tasks that needed to be done, often serving as leaders. Following their retirement, they traveled extensively throughout the United States in their motor home and often served as campground host at Truman State Park and other parks across the U.S. When Tamie, Leslie, Kelly, Michael and Douglas were children, Jane planned a special camping trip for them each summer.

During Frank's illness, Jane volunteered at the Warrensburg Manor Care Center. Following Frank's death in July 1989, she started volunteering for the Warrensburg Senior Center, the Johnson County Historical Society, the Area Agency on Aging and Western Missouri Medical Center, often serving in administrative positions. Jane also volunteered in tax counseling for the elderly, the Circuit Breakers programs, and was selected to go to Washington, D.C. for training.

Jane received many awards for her service to the community including: Volunteer of the Year by the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce and 1998 Club Woman of Achievement by the Warrensburg BPW. In 2008, the Warrensburg Senior Center declared Jane Reynolds Day to honor her 17 years of service. At the reception, she was presented with several proclamations, including one issued in her honor by the Missouri House of Representatives.

Jane was a life member of the Loyal Neighbors Club which was founded by her mother and grandmothers when she was a child. She also was a long time member, volunteer and past president of the Johnson County Historical Society.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years; her parents; and a brother, Forest Douglas Fryrear.

She is survived by her three children, Jack Franklin Reynolds and wife, Kay, of Warrensburg, Doris Jane Brookshier and husband, Clyde, of Warrensburg, and Tamie Jo Reynolds of Utah; six grandchildren, Leslie Carol Bayless, Warrensburg, Kelly Ann Weeks, McIntosh, Fla., Michael William Brookshier, Warrensburg, Douglas Franklin Brookshier, Centerview, Dustin LaVon Turnbow and Cameron Jack Turnbow.
