BARTLETT, Tenn. — Wilma Ruth (Billie) Simmons, 86, of Bartlett, Tenn., died in her sleep on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015. She was the fourth of 11 children born to George “Pic” Findlay and Mary Ann “Mae” Nageotte Findlay in Meadville.
Mrs. Simmons and her husband, Henry Guy Simmons Jr., of Abbeville, Miss., raised five children and were the grandparents to 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1995. She retired from Ballet Memphis in 2010 where she had worked for 20 years as an administrative assistant.
A lifelong Catholic, Mrs. Simmons was a member of St. Ann Church in Bartlett, Tenn., where she volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Dec. 19 at St. Ann Church located at 6529 Stage Road, Bartlett, Tenn. No flowers please.
Mrs. Simmons' cremains will be interred at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Forest Hill-Irene Road.
