Norman L. Skene (1878-1932) was a naval architect, graduate of MIT in Naval Architecture who worked with Starling Burgess, the designer of several America's Cup racing sail boats. He later was a partner in the naval architecture firm of Paine, Belknap & Skene on Beacon Hill. Norman Skene wrote the text book "Elements of Yacht Design, printed by Yachting Inc. He participated in the design of America's Cup boats YANKEE, a J boat and , US-2 that sailed in 1928 and 1932. Lost at sea in the Marblehead Harbor.
