He was born January 7, 1928 to the late William Church Roberson and Myrtle Hardy Roberson. As a youth he loved to hunt and fish when he was not working on the family farm.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After the war, he returned to Pitt County and farming. He married Margaret Nobles Roberson in 1952. Mr. Roberson became a licensed tobacco auctioneer and worked in the Greenville, NC, Live Oak, FL and Paducah, KY tobacco markets from 1960-1994. He and his wife owned Robersons Nursery and Landscaping in Greenville. They both shared a love of the outdoors, growing plants and meeting customers at the nursery until their retirement in 2013.
Mr. Roberson is survived by his: wife of 62 years, Margaret Nobles Roberson; children, Swanee R. Joyner andn William Douglas Roberson and wife, Donna White Roberson;n five grandchildren, Michelle Aldridge, LeAnn Bailey, John Roberson, Zachary Roberson and Hannah Roberson; none great-grandchild, Megan Aldridge.
There was a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery.
