Larry was born on January 16, 1938 in Tylertown, Mississippi to Joe and Katie (Dampeer) Sutton. He graduated from Tylertown High School and then joined the United States Air Force in August of 1955. He served as an Electrical Computer Maintenance Technician.
On November 24, 1964 Larry married Janet Curl in Sioux City, Iowa. Throughout his 24 year career in the Air Force, Larry was stationed at many bases around the country and world. He was honorably discharged in 1979 as a Master Sergeant. After his discharge Larry continued working in civil service at the Air Force Academy, Peterson Air Force Base and NORAD in Colorado Springs. He then worked for El Paso County Clerk and Recorder in Colorado Springs until his retirement.
In 2003 Larry and Janet moved to Yankton. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and "putzing" around the house. Larry also enjoyed watching football, especially the Denver Broncos. He was a very gentle, caring man who was devoted to his Bible, wife and children.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Camie Sutton (Alysa Miller) of Denver; two sisters, Katherine Fortenberry of Florida and Sharon Fox of Mississippi; two brothers, George and Charles Sutton of Louisiana; and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Beto) Gengler of Sioux City, Iowa.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet on August 8, 2011; son, Shannon Sutton; and two brothers, Joe Ray and James Sutton.
