From the Rutland Daily Herald, July 22, 1914:
Pittsford - Charles N. Hart died at the Proctor hospital Tuesday morning after an illness of six weeks. He was born in Brandon February 21, 1848 [very different from gravestone]. He enlisted in company B, heavy artillery, first Vermont regiment, on December 4, 1863, and was honorably discharged at Fort Foote, Maryland. He was married in 1869 to Mary Ann McCormick. He is survived by his three sons, Charles H. of Shirley, Mass., and Frank C. and George A. of East Jaffrey, N.H., also by one sister, Mrs. Joseph Hevey of Worcester, Mass. The funeral will probably be held Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Alphonsus' church at Pittsford Mills. Burial will be in the Pittsford Catholic cemetery.
