Lebanon, NH - Arlene Grace Chapman, age 88 passed away peacefully at the Genesis-Lebanon Center on Sunday December 6, 2015. Arlene, the daughter of Marion Robinson Leonard and Rollie Leonard was born on September 8, 1927 in Grafton, NH.

Arlene graduated from Canaan High School in 1945 and became a substitute teacher at the High School. She married Granville (Chippy) Chapman on June 23, 1946 at the Methodist Church in Canaan, NH. Their wedding was the first in the church since 1890. Arlene was hired by Mascoma Savings Bank in Lebanon in 1956 as a teller. She retired 33 years later in 1989 as a vice-president of the bank. Arlene was very active in the National Association of Banking Women and travelled throughout the United States to promote women in banking. Arlene was active in the community and served on the Mascoma Valley Regional High School board. Arlene and Chippy retired to Florida in 1991 and subsequently moved to Seven Springs Golf and Country Club where they were active in various golf leagues and other social events. They cherished their return to the Upper Valley each summer to spend time with family and friends. They enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed their frequent trips to Biloxi, MS.

Arlene is survived by her children, Brenda Chapman (Cinda) of Hudson, FL; Maggie (Ken) Wheeler of Enfield, NH; Wayne (Bev) of Canaan, NH; Randy (Janice) of Enfield, NH and Kerrie (Bob) Roy of Canaan, NH. She leaves six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Calling hours will be held on Friday December 11 from 5 to 8 pm at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon, NH. Services will be held at the Assembly of God Church in Canaan, NH on Saturday December 12 at 11 am, followed by burial in the Canaan Street Cemetery.
