Susie Lamb Shelton, 89, of Main Street, Mosheim, died Tuesday at her home.
"She went to be with the Lord," her family stated.
"She was a very special and loving mother and grandmother. She was devoted to
her family and her family was her life.
"She was deeply religious and was very much loved by all who knew her. She will
be sadly missed."
Mrs. Shelton retired from The Austin Company.
She was the widow of Norman Shelton, her husband of 57 years who died March 14,
1997.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Betty "Eudema" and David
Gregory, Louise and Johnny Sparks, and Jeanetta and Bill Dean; one son and
daughter-in-law: Lawrence and Patsy Shelton; 11 grandchildren: Dennis Ricker,
Diane Pierce, David Alan Gregory, Sandra Boles, Sharon Cutshall, Sheila Riddle,
Susan Ward, Mike Dean, Randy Dean, Craig Shelton, and Ashley Shelton; 15
great-grandchildren: Alex Gregory, Casey Gregory, Kenya Lloyd, Kelly Stancel,
Kim Tolliver, Issac Hatfield, Carrie Hatfield, Derrick Malone, Justin Brobeck,
Carla Church, Nick Cutshall, Jessica Burns, Brian Dean, Andrea Dean, and a very
special great-grandson: Adam Pierce; 10 great-great-grandchildren: Christian
Pierce, Zander Pierce, Kaylie Grace Burns, Bam Stancel, Johnny Stancel, Michael
Lloyd, Hunter Tolliver, Breanna Tolliver, Danielle Hensley, and Brent Hickerson;
a brother-in-law: Leonard Shelton; a sister-in-law: Wanda Lamb; numerous nieces,
nephews, and cousins; her special friends: Alvin and Nancy Cogburn and Ruby
Livingston; and a host of friends "too numerous to mention."
She was a daughter of the late W.R. and Jersey Lamb and was preceded in death by
a son: William McKinley Shelton; a granddaughter: Teresa Lynn Dean; and a
special grandson: Ricky Ricker.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill
Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the funeral
home chapel. The Rev. Buster Shelton and the Rev. Ray Shelton will officiate.
Interment will follow in B.E. Shelton Cemetery in Madison County, N.C.
Pallbearers will be David Alan Gregory, Dennis Ricker, Adam Pierce, Mike Dean,
Randy Dean, Nick Cutshall, Craig Shelton, and Bryan Dean.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
