Anne Marie Hummer Ball, 80, of East New Market, formerly of Salisbury, MD, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the residence of her daughter, Lisa Ball. Born in Akron, OH, she was the daughter of the late Roy William Hummer and Edith Belle Pyne Hummer.

Anne retired in 1993 as a school teacher at Fruitland Intermediate in Wicomico County after 35 years. She was a member of Retired Teachers Association and Riverside United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, David Wilson Ball; a daughter, Lisa M. Ball; 3 grandchildren, Dane Ball (Erin), Brittany and Brooke Coleman; a great grandson, Owen Joseph Ball; 2 sisters, Ruth Swindell of Newport News, VA and Joyce Hastings (David) of Landenberg, PA; a brother, William Hummer (Thelma Flewelling) of Middletown, DE; a daughter-in-law, Donna S. Ball of Shelby, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph David Ball.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron. Officiating will be Pastor Rob Welsh, assisted by Ranny Townsend.
