OBIT - ABBOTT, BEVERLY LEE

Roanoke Times, The (VA) - June 6, 2005

Beverly Lee Abbott, 62, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2005. She was a long-time member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. She was employed at FNEB and retired from Sun Trust Bank (Hollins and S. Rke Branches) after being a teller for many years. At an early age, she got her start of caring for others when her father died and her mother was not able to care for her children. Beverly helped care for two younger brothers, Duane and George Sheldon, and her younger sister, Marilyn Sheldon (Overstreet). The children were placed in the godly home of L. E. and Sue Havner of Fresno, California, who cared for therm until adulthood and they have remained close over the many years and miles. Beverly continued to be a wonderful mother and grandmother, giving and doing all she could for her family. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Earl T. Abbott, Jr. of Roanoke; her daughter, Ashley Abbott of Charlotte, N.C.; her son, Michael Henderson and his wife, Laurie of Roanoke; and three grandchildren that miss her already, Alex, Stephanie and Zachary. She will be remembered for her giving spirit and her love for her family. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2005 at Oakey's North Chapel, Peters Creek Road, with Albin Crutchfield officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2005 at Oakey's North Chapel. Flowers are welcomed, but if anyone prefers to make a charitable donation, please send it in her honor to Shenandoah Baptist Church, Camp Eagle Campership Fund, 6520 Williamson Rd., Roanoke, Va. 24019.
