Steven Mike Lopez, age 62, of Houston, Texas, passed away December 8, 2015. He was born December 3, 1953, in Riverside, California.
Steven enjoyed bowling and he bowled in the Wednesday Mixers. He was very involved in charity work and worked with Johnnie a lot in helping different causes. He enjoyed traveling and animals. His favorite pet was his parrot "Bo" and his dog "Q Tip." Steven was an avid OU football fan and he enjoyed going to auto shows. He especially liked muscle cars. At one time, he was the owner of a 73 Malibu that was his pride and joy. Steven enjoyed watching action movies and sci-fi thrillers. He also enjoyed watching classic films with Johnnie and they got Marilyn Monroe's autograph. Steven was a supervisor for AT&T and retired after 22 years of service. Steven was a caring, giving and very generous and unselfish person. He never met a stranger and would always put someone else's needs before his own. Steven would give you the shirt off his back. He enjoyed making videos and being on the computer. His first love was spending time with his partner, Johnnie and his family and friends.
Steven is survived by his partner of 35 years, Johnnie Parsons, of Houston, Texas; his mother, Betty Abel, of Oklahoma City; 3 sisters, Barbara DePriest, of Oklahoma City, Angel Smithson, of Houston, Texas and Sherri Dearing, of Moore; 1 brother, Gary Abel, of Houston; and his best friend, Bob Baker. He is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Lopez.
Funeral Services for Steven will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 14, 2015, in the chapel of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, located at 120 South Broadway, Moore, Oklahoma, with Reverend Sam Turnbow officiating. Interment to follow at Norman I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Norman, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home.
