Rita Ann Bishop, age 84, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at the Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. She was born November 19, 1931 in Washington Township, Jackson County, Ohio to the late Minor Leach and Julia Humphries Leach. Rita was a 1949 graduate of Washington Township School and was a former employee of Kuppenheimer Manufacturing and Penn's Warehouse. For several years she was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Wellston, and then later attended the Zion #3 Church. She is survived by her children, Richard L. Bishop, Jr. (Sally) of Wellston and Tonya Dye of Chillicothe; sisters, Ellen Potts of Wellston and Roberta Reedy of Heath; brother, Eugene Leach (Donna) of Radcliff, as well as 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Richard L. Bishop, Sr.; son-in-law, Alfred Dye, Jr.; sister, Mary Katherine Ward, and brothers Pearl Ottis Leach and Minor Davey Leach. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Friday at 1 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Barney officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery.
