ROLLING PRAIRIE - Michael Gerald Flagg, 69, of Rolling Prairie, passed away peacefully at 5:02 p.m., Thursday, December 10, 2015 in his home.

On April 23, 1946, in La Porte, Indiana, he was born to Leslie and Betty (Egolf) Flagg.

Michael graduated from Rolling Prairie High School in 1964 and graduated with a Master's Degree in Education from Indiana State University. He was a teacher in his community for 33 years, serving Westville, Door Village, Riley, and Lincoln elementary schools. Michael was a member of the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. He enjoyed coaching for basketball, flag football and little league baseball, especially youth sports for his children. Michael also had a passion for woodworking and reading. He loved his family dog, Ty.

On August 23, 1969, in Kendallville, Indiana, he married Suzanne (Wilson) Flagg, who survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Betty Flagg of Rolling Prairie; two sons, Matt (Monica) Flagg of New Carlisle, and Jason (Brandee) Flagg of Mill Creek; four siblings, Cheri Taylor of Hudson Lake Township, Rondi (Mike) Jones of La Porte, John Flagg of Concord, Georgia, and Mark Flagg of Rolling Prairie; and four grandchildren, Braydon, Jayden, Morgan, and Lauren.

Preceding him in death were his father; and one sister, Brenda Thompson.

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church, 3444 E. US Highway 20, Rolling Prairie, Indiana 46371 with Pastor Deb Beason officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 and from 10 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the church.
