Death of Erastus D. Brown.
Reprinted by request
Died in this village, on June 17th of shaking palsy, Erastus D . Brown, in the 75th year of his age. Mr. Brown was one of the oldest residents of this village. Previous to the eight years of suffering which preceded his death he was always identified with all projects furthering the best interests of the village. He had charge of the cemetery for many years and it was through his painstaking work and that of Perry Gillett, who succeeded him in its management, that our cemetery has become one of the most beautiful places of its kind in Western New York. Mr. Brown was one of a large family of whom only two survive him, Horace and Charles Brown, both of this village.
Mr. Brown was married on May 8, 1851, to Miss P. Climena Crumb, and the union was blessed by one daughter, Alice E., who died August 9, 1856, at the tender age of less than two years.
He was a kind husband and a good neighbor, and beside a wife he leaves many friends to mourn his loss. His funeral was held from the Free Baptist church, and the interment was made in the Cherry Creek cemetery.
