Norfolk - God infinite in wisdom, grace and mercy quietly transitioned Rev. Earlene Tate Brown to her eternal home on May 29, 2015. "Momma Brown", as she was lovingly called, was born on November 10, 1933 in Norfolk County to the late Earl and Viola Tate. She was married to the late Matthew Brown of Hertford, North Carolina.

She held several positions over the years as a Chesapeake Social Services Day Care Provider, Home Health Care Aide, Chesapeake Medicaid Cab Driver and Norfolk City Public School Bus Driver. Also, Rev. Earlene Brown was the founder of Wayside Ministries, an outreach endeavor dedicated to serving the needs of God's people. Because of her benevolent spirit, many underserved individuals never went to bed hungry in body or spirit.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at Metropolitan Berkley Chapel, 120 W. Berkley Ave., Norfolk, VA on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
