Robert A Asleson, 87, of Hawley, passed away on February 18, 2011, in the Veteran's Hospital, Fargo, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.


Robert was born in Ulen, where he graduated from Ulen High School in 1942. He entered the Navy in the same year. After six years, he returned home in 1949 and married Gloria Rolle now deceased. Robert and Gloria had four children and had a passion for farming and horses. For 50 years, Robert was a member of the Hawley Golden Riders, as well as Midwest Minnesota Harness Club and WMSTR. He loved to show his draft horses in area parades. Robert is survived by his sons, David (Gina) and Jim; daughter, Jean (John); son-in-law, Bob; daughter, Laura, deceased; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and sister, Patsy, age 100.
