Mary Doudaniotis passed away on December 8, 2015.

She was born in Sykiada, Chios, Greece to Vasilis and Katerina Mathoudi Kosmas.

Mary first came to the United States in 1948 after she married Louis Georgopoulos in Nassua, Bahamas. The couple came back to Bingham Canyon, where her husband operated a business. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1954.

She married Panayiotis (Pan) Doudaniotis in Salt Lake City on December 26, 1959. The two of them loved to work together in their magnificent garden, travel together, spend time with friends and family, and sang a beautiful duet.

Mary was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and taught Sunday School in Bingham Canyon and was also a member of Daughters of Penelope, Salt Lake Ladies of Philoptochos Society, and Athanasios Diakos Society. She cared deeply for her religion and often told beautiful stories of churches and monasteries back in Greece.

Mary took great pride in her cooking and baking and it was enjoyed by all.

Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she was very proud of all of them and their accomplishments: Alexandra Cayias (Thomas), Dr. Elias Georgopoulos, Marie Barnard (Mitch), and Kristen Simpson (Allen).

Mary is survived by her son, Dr. Larry Georgopoulos (Barbara), of Albuquerque, New Mexico and her daughter, Dimitra Howell, of Salt Lake City. She is also survived by her niece, Katina Aerakis (Bobby), of Salt Lake City and her nephew, Vasilis Kosmas, of Detroit, Michigan; along with numerous nieces and nephews in Greece. Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis and Pan; and siblings, John Kosmas, Antoni Kosmas, Matrona Mbouse, Patra Franguli, and Dimitri (Jim) Kosmas.

The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care Mary received during her long illness from Summit Hospice and Right at Home. Specifically, her nurse, Becky Nielson; physical therapist, Kennard Black; and caregivers, Mary Cruz, Mary Schneider, and Casey Ellingson. The family would like to thank Summit Home Health and Hospice for their loving care for Mary.
