Daughter of Francis Asbury TUTHILL and Mary Hallock CLARK, m. Mar 26, 1884 Mattituck Presby, William Otis DAVIDS

MRS JANE DAVIDS

Mrs Jane Davids passed away at the home of her son Alfred on Friday, January 23rd. She was nearly 82 years old. Mrs Davids was the daughter of Asbury and Mary Clark Tuthill. She was married to William Davids in March, 1884. After the death of her husband in January, 1925, she made her home in Southold most of the time, spending her summers in her little cottage near the beach at Founder's Landing, a spot very dear to her.

Mrs Davids was a good neighbor and friend, and as long as health permitted she was often found in homes where sickness and death had come, to give all the assistance and comfort she could. She joined the Cutchogue Methodist Church in 1893 and she attending the Presbyterian Church in Southold during her residence there, retaining her membership in Cutchogue.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev James Hood at the home of her son on Monday, January 26th. The large number present and many beautiful floral tributes told of the esteem in which she was held. Interment was in the family plot in Cutchogue Cemetery.

Mrs Davids is survived by one son, Alfred Davids of Peconic, a daughter, Mrs Beulah Strasser of Southold; a sister, Mrs Mary Hamilton and a brother Mr Frank Tuthill; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
