COLONIE - Kenneth Mackey, 71, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Kenneth was born on September 20, 1937 in Dormansville, N.Y. and was the son of the late Everett and Grace (Tallman) Mackey. He graduated from Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School with sports honors. He served first with the Army National Guard and later with the U.S. Navy/Naval Air from 1960 to 1964.

He was owner and president of K & K Gunite Pool Builders since 1971. He was a member of St. Clare's Church and the Colonie Elks where he belonged to their golf league and dart league. He was an avid family man and loved sports. He was a former member of Mason/Tile Setters Unions.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lillian C. (Goergen) Mackey; his devoted children, Kimberly M. (Allan C. Sr.) Secor of Colonie and Kenneth W. (Amy Beth) Mackey of Colonie; his cherished grandchildren, Allan C. Secor Jr. and Cassandra M. Secor; his sister, Viola Scutt of Schoharie; his brother-in-law, William H. (Linda) Goergen Jr.; his father-in-law, Louis C. Sproesser; his nieces, Jill (Andrew) Bierman and Jennifer (Douglas) Higgins; his devoted friends, Howard and Ann Picard and family. He was also survived by several cousins. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Lillian H. (Goergen) Sproesser and his father-in-law, William H. Goergen Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Kenneth Mackey.
