"Mrs Quinby Dies Sunday In Arizona - Oldest of Family of Late Joseph Seep, Had Been Ill Several Months - Interment To Be Here - The wide acquaintance of Mrs Lillian M Quinby in Titusville was saddened yesterday to learn of her death, which occurred at 1:15 am Sunday at Phoenix, Ariz, where she had been receiving treatment since the holiday season. For about two months before going to Arizona, Mrs Quinby was a patient at the Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore. Mrs Quinby was the oldest child of the late Joseph and Kate Hillenmeyer Seep and was born in Lexington, Ky, on December 15, 1866, coming with her parents to Titusville in 1869. Mr Seep became identified with the Standard Oil Company and ultimately was internationally known as the founder and director of the Seep Crude Oil Purchasing Agency, which has purchased the crude for that company since the early seventies. Attended School in Washington - The daughter was educated at St Joseph's academy in this city and Visitation Academy in Washington, DC. During her girlhood, she accompanied her father on several of his trips abroad, and was among the city's most charming and cultured women. Following the death of her mother in 1917, Mrs Quinby devoted her time to her father, who died on April 1, 1928, aged nearly 90 years. On account of her long association with her father, Mrs Quinby became experienced in business and in the last few years of Mr Seep's life, he relied upon her judgement in many of his business activities. Possessing a generous nature, Mrs Quinby gave liberally to the support of various charitable organizations, particularly the City Hospital in which she was much interested, and the Catholic Charities. She was a generous supporter of the work of St Titus' church, of which she was a life-long member. Daughters Had Been With Her - On June 21, 1898, the deceased was married to Dr Edgar C Quinby of this city, who died in January, 1913. To them were born three children - Edgar, who died in infancy; Mrs Marian Craig, wife of Noel L L Craig of London, Eng, and Miss Catharine Quinby. Both daughters were with their mother when she passed away, Miss Catharine accompanying her to Arizona in December and Mrs Craig arriving about two weeks ago. There are also two granddaughters, Pamela and Clemey Ann Craig of London, and the following brothers and sisters survive: Albert H Seep of Denver, Col, Arthur F Seep and Eugene E Seep of Oil City, Herbert B Seep of Erie, Mrs Joseph E Fleming and Mrs John J Harvey of Titusville. The funeral party [is] expected to leave Phoenix late Sunday, and upon arrival in Titusville the casket will be taken to Mrs Quinby's home, the Seep residence, West Main street. Services will be held from St Titus' church Friday at 9 am, with interment in the Seep mausoleum in St Catharine's cemetery. Friends are requested to omit flowers."
